Hi, I’m an immigrant from India, living in Nova Scotia, Canada, and I’ve never imagined I’d be in a position where I’d need to ask for help like this. But life has taken an unexpected and devastating turn, and now I’m reaching out in the hope that some kindness from strangers might help me and my family survive this nightmare.
Recently, I fell victim to a sophisticated financial scam, it was a cruel, manipulative con that preys on vulnerable people, who may not fully understand, through long-term emotional deception. In the end, I lost around 40000 CAD. This money wasn’t just mine—it was meant to support my elderly parents and extended family back in India, whom my brother and I have been financially caring for over the years. Unfortunately my brother cannot work because he lost his one eye four years previously, so I continue to support him as well and want to do operation of my brother eye.
As a lower-income immigrant every dollar I saved was hard-earned. I was in the process of transferring funds to support medical care and living expenses for my aging parents when the scam took place. The betrayal has left me emotionally crushed and financially bankrupt.
I reported the incident to the police, but investigations have gone nowhere. The scammers disappeared without a trace, and I was told the chances of recovering my money are essentially nonexistent. As an immigrant, I’ve faced additional barriers in accessing legal or institutional support, and I now find myself with nothing.
This GoFundMe is my last hope to regain some stability—not just for me, but for my family back home who depend on me.
If you are in a position to contribute, even a small amount, it would mean the world to me and my family. Your support could help me rebuild and continue to care for my family, or at least get back home to India. If you’re unable to donate, sharing this campaign would be just as meaningful.
Thank you so much for reading my story. I never thought I’d be here, but I’m holding onto hope that things can turn around—with your help.
