My name is John Barnes, and I am a writer and coach in Colorado. When I set out to write my first book, I made a conscious decision NOT to write another personal growth book. Through 12 years of personal coaching as a volunteer, I was inspired by the many life stories (including my own) that I had heard. In my book, I wanted to tell stories. Everyone has numerous stories of their life, and we are shaped by them. These stories are powerful, entertaining, and inspirational and can teach us volumes about ourselves and others.

This was the inspiration for my Book, "18: A Novel of Ruin and Redemption". The book was written, edited, and created completely out of my effort and resources. It has been a best seller on Amazon, and consistently gets Five Star reviews. Recently, I was connected to a screenwriter/Producer with over 30 years in Hollywood, and this person indicated that he thought '18' would be a compelling film. This struck a chord, as I always envisioned the book as a film. Unlike a famous writer who has a big publishing company behind them, I am a real estate agent and I have pushed the book's development on my own. The first step toward getting '18' made into a film is an expensive process of creating a compelling and commercially viable screenplay and casting the project. While this is a significant investment, it allows us to go to a studio with a more clearly defined commercial potential, moving this project ahead of the hundreds of screenplays that are largely rejected.

Helping fund the transition of this book into a film will not just move me closer to my dream. This story is unlike a lot of material that we see on our TVs or in theatres or Online. The powerful themes of courage, resilience, forgiveness, and redemption are what I hope to see more of in the world, and not just in our entertainment.
