We are raising urgent funds to help an asylum seeking mother to be in Serbia access a crucial prenatal medical test costing 690 euros. Without support this essential care is out of reach.

My name is Lola and I created this fundraiser on behalf of my friends G and A. Due to safety concerns and their status as political asylum seekers they have chosen to remain anonymous for this fundraiser.

Why this matters

G and A are a young married couple who have already endured more hardship than most people face in a lifetime.

G is a political refugee who was forced to flee his home country for his own physical safety. A followed him and after long periods of separation and uncertainty they were finally able to reunite and marry far from their country of origin.

Like any young couple they dream of something simple stability safety and the chance to raise their child in peace.

After multiple failed attempts to leave Serbia they applied for asylum there. Many human rights organisations have documented the extremely poor living conditions for asylum seekers in Serbia especially when it comes to access to healthcare.

The urgent situation

A is pregnant and deeply excited to bring her child into the world even under these incredibly precarious circumstances.

However she urgently needs a vital prenatal medical test that is essential for the health of both mother and baby. The cost of this test is 690 euros, an amount that is impossible for them to afford without help. They receive no financial support from the Serbian asylum agency or government and as asylum seekers it is extremely difficult to find work in Serbia.

Any funds raised beyond the cost of the test will be used as a small safety net for unforeseen medical expenses or basic needs during the pregnancy.

Without outside support this necessary medical care is simply unattainable.
