I am an asylum seeker currently living in the United States. My case is still pending, and returning to my country of origin is not safe. I urgently need help to cover unexpected legal fees that could directly affect my ability to remain here safely. While I wait for a decision that will determine my future, I am doing everything I can to survive and move forward.

I am working multiple jobs and attending school, trying to build a stable life in New York. Between rent, tuition, and basic living expenses in one of the most expensive cities in the country, money is already stretched thin. I do my best to plan ahead, and I usually keep a small fund for immigration-related costs—but this expense was entirely unexpected.

The asylum process is unpredictable, especially in the current political climate. Legal and immigration-related fees can arise suddenly, with little warning, and the consequences of not being able to pay them are severe. These costs include attorney fees, consultations, document preparation, filing costs, and required travel for court or official appointments. Missing any part of this process could jeopardize my safety and my ability to remain here.

I do not have a family safety net in the U.S. When these expenses come up, there is nowhere else to turn. This fundraiser exists to help me cover these urgent legal costs so I can stay compliant, continue my case, and focus on working, studying, and staying afloat during an already frightening and uncertain time for immigrants and asylum seekers.
