I have been a poet and an artist since I was four years old, and at 32, this creative journey has truly become my life's work. Over the years, I founded Energetic Investments, a community outreach organization where I use art as a means to facilitate healing, education, and economic growth. Our mission is to eliminate the idea of the 'starving artist' by creating event programming that pays artists fairly and gives back to the community.
Recently, I was honored to be invited by NettweWorks artistry in Detroit to travel to Namibia, Africa, alongside nine other poets. Together, we will help educate and entertain local neighborhoods and tribes, using poetry and art to build bridges and inspire hope. In addition, I was awarded a two-week writer's residency at Chateau d'Orquevaux in France, where I will have the chance to work on my third book in a truly inspiring setting. Last but not least, my organization, Energetic Investments, was invited to bring myself and two other artists to perform at the New York Poetry Fest this July. I would love to sponsor these artists so they can join me at no cost to them.
Unfortunately, my current income only supports the basic needs of myself, my two daughters and my niece. With the rising cost of living, I am barely making ends meet. These opportunities are once-in-a-lifetime, and I need all the support I can get to make them a reality. Your generosity will help me continue my work as an artist and community leader, and bring back valuable experiences to share with my community. Any help you can give will make a huge difference. Thank you for believing in the power of art and for supporting my journey.
