*UPDATE 3/11/2022*

I’m so happy to be able to provide a positive update that Xenija is on her way to safety. The relief and gratitude I’m sure is something we all feel as I know so many people have been so worried about her. Also happy to report that I’ve been able to chat with her and check in here and there as she makes her way to the border of Poland. While this is all very good news and the relief is palpable, the journey is far from over. As you know Xenija was planning on moving to New York and was delayed on account of war. How insane is that? In the days since starting this fundraiser so much has changed. The goal is still to get her to New York but now with a few more companions in tow (mom and kitty) and unfortunately, even fewer belongings.

I’ve raised the fundraising goal to $10k in hopes that we can enable Xenija, her mother and her family cat to make a smooth and safe transition while moving from Ukraine, through  Poland and to America.

Having much of this fight at her literal doorstep has meant that Xenija had to endure and survive 14 days of some of the worst combat that has been seen yet in the Russia/Ukraine war. I don’t think anyone can begin to imagine what it takes to survive that, not only physically, but mentally and emotionally. While we already knew that she would be able to bring a few possessions, as the situation changed and they both had to evacuate, even less could be brought along. Also it’s an unfortunate truth that there’s no longer an option of having her personal effects sent from her home to NYC. Like many Ukrainians citizens right now, there isn't a ‘home’ to return to or to have your things sent from.

It would be amazing if in addition to easing the burden of things like housing and food we could enable them the funds to cover all the little things as well. Additional flights, additional visa paperwork, medications, pet food, pet meds, etc are all things that weren’t originally needed but now are.

I would love to be able to give these funds to Xenija and her mother so that they can not only start over but so that they can have a little bit of peace and ease as they make one of the hardest and biggest transitions in life. To have a moment to stop and rest when they arrive and to be able to purchase the things they need from toothpaste to Uber rides.

As we all know, war is brutal; it's ugly, violent, and destructive. If we can help to further rebuild for xenija and her mother, we can continue to make something positive out of this tragic and senseless war. If you’re able to donate and share this fundraiser, you have my gratitude.

I'm fundraising on behalf of my friend XenijaCurly. Xenija is a talented young Ukrainian artist and photographer from the heart of the country. At 24, she was on the verge of moving to the US to further her career when Russia invaded her home country. Her flights were grounded; she became trapped in her country and trapped in her own home surrounded by war and waiting to be evacuated safely.

This GoFundMe will help her get out of Ukraine and start anew in New York. She will arrive here with her passport, her Visa, and very little else, having to leave her home and possessions behind to move quickly and as safely as possible. She won't be able to bring her art, supplies, or even many clothes or personal effects. We're asking the communities to whom Xenija has shown so much love, passion, and support to turn around and support her right back in these unprecedented times of need.

Xenija is widely known for her one-of-a-kind art that honors artists like Panic! at the Disco, Halsey, Fall Out Boy, Twenty One Pilots, and so many more. Many of you know Xenija for her love of and contributions to the vro crew, Brendon's streaming community. We're asking these fans and communities to share this fundraiser to help wrap Xenija in the warm hug of the best community on the internet to make sure she's loved, safe and supported once she lands in the United States. We're asking anyone with an open heart and a desire to help those who are leaving behind a life in Ukraine to donate, share, and contribute in any way you're able.

Xenija is still in Ukraine and doing all she can to take shelter, stay safe, and hopefully evacuate soon. This fundraiser will allow her to make travel plans and arrangements 'on the fly' as many refugees are having to do now. When she is safe, this will help her reestablish her life and continue her career aspirations. It cannot be stressed enough that any donation amount will be immensely helpful and appreciated.
