Help an Artist Bring His Comic Book Dream to Life

I'm Marquis. I’m an artist and writer. For as long as I can remember, I’ve wanted to write a comic book that will tell a story close to my heart, and on each page, illustrate the lessons of hope, joy, and peace I learned living as a teenager in Compton.

I have been honing and cultivating my artistic skills over the last 10 years, motivated daily by my desire to tell this story as an action comic. During the height of COVID I was blessed with the time, space and means to make the jump from traditional media to digital. Honestly, learning those skills was a grind (I’ve become a bit of a luddite in these last few years). However, my motivation and determination sustained me.

Finally, the time had come for me to put my writing, drawing, practice, and learning into production of the book. I was excited, inspired, and ready.

Then life happens as it tends to do: My humble drawing tablet died. It’s dead-dead y'all. I felt frustrated but not at all deterred. However, not having the money I need to buy a new tablet is quite an obstacle to overcome. Today I am asking you to help me up and over this hill.

In honor of my birthday, if you have it in your heart, in your spirit, and of course in your budget, I would deeply appreciate your contribution toward my purchase of a new mobile drawing tablet so I can give life to this project.

On the advice of my artist friends I’ve (begrudgingly, as I’m an Android guy) chosen the 12.9” 512GB iPad Pro, with Apple Pencil and keyboard, and of course the ubiquitous AppleCare. The total cost is about $2,200.
