Help an Acid Attack Survivor Get Urgent care
Donation protected
Asalaamu Alaikum, my name is Salina Akhtar. Last year, my daughter and sister helped raise funds for Sumi Aktar Riya, a brave acid attack survivor in Bangladesh, allowing her to undergo a major eye surgery.
Nearly ten years ago, Sumi was attacked with acid after rejecting a marriage proposal, leaving her with severe burns to her face, eyes, and upper body. She was later forced to marry her attacker for survival, only for him to abandon her and their young daughter, Anisa, with no financial support.
Sumi has nowhere to live, no land, and no income of her own. A few kind people from the UK have generously helped secure a temporary living space for her, but she continues to struggle daily.
Thanks to your generosity, Sumi had a successful eye surgery in 2024. However, due to a lack of funds, she missed essential follow-ups, leading to a severe infection. She had to undergo another emergency surgery in 2025 to save her remaining vision.
She still urgently needs medical care in India to prevent further complications and potential blindness. This Ramadan, we are raising £1000 to cover her travel, medical consultations, and additional procedures.
Any donation—big or small—will help save her sight and ensure a better future for her and her daughter. Please consider donating and sharing this appeal. May your kindness be rewarded abundantly.
