Hi, my name is Rachel and I am fundraising for my friend, Amy, who has recently experienced a serious medical event. For Amy to get the treatment and recovery time she needs, she will be required to take extended leave from work, which will make it impossible for Amy to pay living expenses.

I know that many of you know what kind of person Amy is: that she is a public school teacher and single mom, and that she gives love and support to LITERALLY everyone she meets. Honestly, I don't even know how she does it, but it is a sight to behold - the way she constantly exudes warmth and acceptance! I also know I don't have to talk about how difficult it is to make ends meet on a teacher's salary, much less as a sole earner, and much less when they need to take time off work for health reasons.

We are asking for $8,400 which will cover two months' worth of living expenses for Amy and her kids until she can return to work in mid-January. Ideally, we will receive this money or the bulk of it within the next couple weeks so that Amy doesn't have to worry about December expenses which are just around the corner.
