Hi, I’m Brittany. I’m starting this for my mom, Amy. I’m not sure how to write one of these, but here goes…
Since 2008, my mom has battled the highs and lows of her Lupus diagnosis.
This has caused her daily headaches/ migraines, heart issues, chronic intestinal infections, and pulmonary issues. Over the past 2 years, her Lupus has been in a constant flare up causing increased symptoms and most recently, vision problems. This has resulted in multiple doctor visits and tons of testing. A referral was sent to Mayo Clinic in Rochester and they FINALLY accepted her! After many trips back and forth to Mayo, mom was diagnosed with a benign meningioma of the brain. Because it is wrapped around her optic nerve and causing loss of vision, doctors say we need to act now. Surgery is way too risky being the placement of the tumor, so extensive treatment is needed. If untreated she would eventually have complete vision loss of her right eye. Since the diagnosis, she has taken multiple trips down to Mayo Clinic to have more scans and plan treatment. Starting April 6th, my parents will have to live in Rochester for the following six weeks to receive specialized treatment daily. We’re trying to take some of the stress off them as far as finding housing, food, cover time they will be out of work, and the medical bills to follow. My parents have done so much for our family and would love nothing more than to help them through this time. Thank you for taking the time to read this!
