Hi, my name is Daniela and I'm fundraising for my dear friend Amy who has been through more than any of us can ever imagine in her young lifetime. After suffering the sudden death of her older sister in 2014 and then losing her father less than a year later in 2015 to yet another deathly illness, she sadly learned of her mother's diagnosis with uterine cancer shortly after and suffered her passing in 2019 after years of battle and just before pandemic hit. With all of these tragedies one after the other came vulnerability and she fell into an unhealthy relationship that was abusive -- and during lockdown no less. This series of events paired with self isolation for an extended amount of time lead to some very dark moments. Coupled with complex anxiety, panics and depression. I'm so proud of how she’s been able to push forward on her own and in isolation, while we have all been lucky enough to retreat to our families during these trying times in history. I'm truly so glad she is alive and safe today.
Due to the compound effects of losing her job during lockdowns in addition to dealing with immense tragedy and trauma while in isolation, she was not able to continue work to pay her bills and was forced to move into a safe temporary space thanks to the kindness of friends. The money from this fundraiser will go towards helping Amy get back on her feet. Additionally, money from this fundraiser will go towards the payment of trauma treatments that are not covered by her insurance, that have been recommended by her doctors.
If you know Amy, you know these things about her. She is normally leads an absolutely healthy life, is a capable and vibrant girl with a heart of gold. She's passionate in her profession as a nanny and beloved by the families she has worked with. She's intelligent, gorgeous, and has a light that shines brighter than anyone you could know. She was lovingly nicknamed the 'Mayor' of our old apartment complex for being that go-to reliable friend everyone could count on to be the glue in the community. She knows everybody, regularly checks in on folks, says hi and offers her warm smile, help and kindness to everyone around her. Her sense of humor is infectious and clever -- so much so that most would say it's difficult to tell that this inner battle plagues her daily. In fact, because of lockdown during the pandemic, most friends haven't known how severe her condition had persisted. She is only now opening up about her story and sharing.
She is so sweet she does not like to burden anyone with her tremendous pain. But her trauma is real and unfortunately due to the death of her immediate family members paired with lockdowns she has been left so incredibly alone on this journey.
Please consider contributing to this fund to help support her getting back on her feet. There are so many deserving women like Amy in similar conditions and so little resources out there for women who are truly alone and suffering. It would really mean a lot to both of us if you consider sharing this gofundme page in your own personal social networks.
Contributions at any level are much appreciated.
With Gratitude,
DM
