Help Amy See the World

I finished my 6 rounds of chemo in August. It was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do and I can't believe it's over. By now, my hair, eyebrows, eyelashes have started to grow back! However, my last CT scan showed that there has been some new progression of the disease so the chemo and maintenance drugs were unsuccessful at keeping away the beast.

But no fret! I had genetic and tumour testing done earlier in the year and they discovered that I am a match for a clinical trial that's currently recruiting. Therefore, I will begin to take three oral drugs starting next week as targeted therapy. I think this is awesome, positive news in that it's specific to my tumour type and I no longer have to get any IV injections. I really hope these trial drugs are my answer. My next CT scan will be in about 9-10 weeks, which is in early January, the same time I discovered the tumour last year.

Since I'll be on the clinical trial, I have transitioned from Short Term Disability to Long Term Disability. That means I'll have more time to spend with family and friends while I take the time away from work.

Thank you to everyone who has already donated and who continue to support me through this unimaginable journey. Your words of encouragement and efforts to see me really mean a lot to me; they keep me going!

If I'm sharing this link with you, it's probably because you said at one point, "Let me know if there's anything I can do to help". Well, now you can!

I WANT TO SEE THE WORLD.
Not just stuck in my living room watching travel videos on YouTube, but actually GO THERE.

In fact, I might even plan that destination wedding I've always wanted to have, on a cliff overlooking the ocean, but put off due to the pandemic.

There are so many places I want to go. I've never been to Europe or South America. I want to camp out with the animals in the Safari. I want to swim with the fishies down under. I want to roam the hills with the llamas and alpacas. I want to eat my way through South East Asia. Most of all, I want to do it all with Jay and Kay. I want to make as many memories with them as I can.

I thought I would have time to do all of that. I thought I could take my time and maybe do one trip a year. I thought I would have a whole lifetime to spend with Jay and Kay. But everything came crashing down after my diagnosis of stage 3 Ovarian Cancer this January. Suddenly I could not do any of the things I was looking forward to doing in 2023, including playing volleyball, having another baby, and buying a house.

Nobody knows when they're going to leave this Earth. It could be tomorrow, a few months from now, or next year. I just want to start the journey now before it's too late. I want to do it all within the next couple of years... and I need your help to achieve that.

I will document my expenses and travels as I go so you know your donation is used for its intended purpose.

If I become unable to work, I will also lose my life insurance from my company. And if I don't make it, these funds can help go to supporting Jay and Kay, plus any after-death expenses because I don't qualify for life insurance anymore. (LPT: Buy yours early!)

Thank you for reading and considering a donation. Every little bit counts. If you wish to EMT me instead to save on the donation fees (2.9% + $0.30), please DM for my email.

OVARIAN CANCER SUCKS!

P.S. If you're a female and still have your reproductive organs, MAKE SURE YOU GET CHECKED!

Ovarian cancer has long been called a "silent killer," because symptoms are thought to develop only after the disease has reached an advanced stage and is largely incurable. Four symptoms are more likely to occur in women with ovarian cancer than in women in the general population.
1. Bloating or increased abdominal size
2. Pelvic or abdominal pain
3. Difficulty eating or feeling full quickly
4. Urinary frequency or urgency.
