Hello, my name is Amy Joy, I apologize for not providing everyone with an update earlier than this. I genuinely appreciate everyone for taking the time taking to read my story.
Since the original post i have been able to start the reassembling of my tractor. I have installed the differential and rearend with all new bearings and races and have the axles and bull gears installed. New rods, pistons, and cam have been purchased. The head has been reworked with new valves and springs, the block has been bored, the crank polished, and various other engine and miscellaneous parts reworked. I have been able to rebuild the transmission along with all new bearings and also had to replace a couple gears. Now I’m in the process of putting the engine back together. But, I still have a long ways to go with a lot more parts along with additional expenses before my tractors finished.
I would like, at this time, to better introduce myself and give you a bit of history about my tractor project, i’m an active member of 4-H, FFA, my High School Choir and our local Antique Tractor Club. I am seeking help to reach a major goal I have set for myself.
4 years ago, at the age of 11, I told my grandfather that I wanted to restore my own tractor. He asked me what I wanted to restore. I told him I wanted to honor him and my Great-Grandfather by restoring my Great-Grandfather's 1952 John Deere "G" tractor as an American Heritage 4-H Project, which had been sitting outside and unused for over 50 years.
My intentions are to complete this project primarily by myself, and of course, with my grandfather's guidance and aid when needed. I have learned many things in this adventure so far, including the mechanics of a tractor. I have learned how to read parts manuals, ordering the right parts and following IT manuals in the process. My tractor is currently disassembled, and I am starting the process of reassembling as funds become available. My grandfather was right, this has been a major undertaking, but I am determined to complete this project.
Any contributions to my project will help me in achieving my goal. My goal is to have it completed June 1, 2026, or sooner with enough funding.
Any amount you would be willing to contribute would be so greatly appreciated, and if you are not able to contribute at this time, sharing with your friends and family would mean the world to me as well.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
