Hi, my name is Amy Mendoza, and I am 45 years old mother of four beautiful children. For the past 6 years I have been chronically ill and unable to work, get out of bed most days, and most of all be the mom that I know that I am and that my kids deserve. Just a few of the things I have been dealing with over the past years include Lyme Disease, numerous parasitic infections, fibro myalgia, endometriosis, PCOS, breast implant illness, and severe sensitivities to things such as fragrances, foods, chemicals, mold, animals, etc., which have trapped me in my home and kept me distant from the things and people that I love.
Prior to my illness, I was a competitive bodybuilder who was prepping and training for a national physic competition in hopes of getting my pro card, when I had suffered a back injury that forced me to the doctors. My assigned doctor then proceeded to irresponsibly prescribe me a no taper prescription of Prednisone. 24 hours after my last dose was the day that the life I recognized ended.
For those of you who don't know, Prednisone is an auto-immune suppressant which lowers the immune system to help with inflammation. Typically, when being prescribed this, being able to taper it allows your body to adjust to the drug appropriately and safely. However, I was not given that luxury, and unfortunately put my trust in the doctor without doing any additional research. (lesson learned) I was entirely unaware of the dangers that could come with not tapering this prescription, and in the end it had completely altered not only my immune system, but had affected my ability to ward off illnesses and heal my own body properly, which i am still struggling with to this day.
The damage done to my immune system then proceeded to allow the illnesses (and more) I had mentioned above to take over my life. For about 3 years I was referred from specialist to specialist, in desperation to be helped, only to be turned away and told I was either depressed, in my own head, perfectly fine, or that I was the one at fault. Those experiences thankfully lead me to switch to natural and homeopathic medicine, which has helped me more than any doctor has.
I continue to try and unravel the mess and pain that Prednisone has caused for me and my loved ones, but unfortunately the homeopathic route is not covered by any form of insurance, which has taken an incredible toll on mine and my families financial stability. My health prevents me from being reliable enough to stay employed and has lead my household to entirely depend on a single income. This has put an unimaginable strain on my life, and has negatively affected my marriage and my ability to give my children the life they deserve.
I'm not one to ask for help and have always been independent and able to take care of me and my kids. But my life has been turned upside down, and after 6 six years I'm at a loss for solutions. We have been behind on most bills, maxed out our credit cards, and credit scores have been affected to the point where loans are not an option. Our financial restriction prevents me from being able to properly support myself in my healing with the treatments and help that I require. It's important things such as organic foods, clean water and air, and non-toxic products that we struggle to afford. Any supporting donations will go towards the things above, as well as remediating mold from my home, paying off collections and/or bills, and homeopathic treatments, appointments, and therapies that will be required along my healing journey. Without these blessings, I cannot heal and get back to the life I love, deserve, and miss more than anything.
I understand that life is hard and money is never easy to give away, especially to a stranger, but any help at all will bring me one step closer to getting my life back.
