Hi all! Thank you for reading through this, and helping us in any way you can in order to help Amy heal.

On October 8th, Amy went into the emergency room after experiencing back and lung pain that was progressively getting worse. As more tests were completed, it became obvious that she was fighting a fast moving disease that was impacting multiple parts of her body. Through further diagnosis it was determined that she has small cell lung cancer, with a tumor in the lung, and additional lesions in her spine, shoulder, skull and liver.

The good news is that the cancer is very responsive to treatment, and after spending 3 weeks in the hospital, she has been able to start a variety of treatments to help reverse course of this fast moving cancer. Some of these treatments are covered by insurance, but unfortunately some of these treatments are not. All are important for her to heal, and a lot of what is not covered allows her body to help use it's natural resources in conjunction with the chemotherapy. But they are expensive to facilitate for the next 3 months without insurance coverage.

In addition, given the diagnosis and additional symptoms that come with treatment, she no longer can live in the community she's loved for many years on her boat. It's been a very dramatic life change, and she is in the process of transitioning while doing this extensive treatment. She would like to keep some of her independence, but it's going to require additional support and expenses until she has more functionality to utilize some of the money saving techniques she's perfected through the years.
