Hello! My name is Amy and I struggle with multiple chronic conditions and disabilities. A few of these include Long Covid/Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME/CFS), Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS), generalised joint hypermobility and scoliosis. Each of these contribute to me needing to use my wheelchair most of the time to reduce symptoms such as pain and chronic fatigue.

I have recently been able to purchase a custom wheelchair (a quickie argon 2 that I will be receiving late june-early july) with the help of charity funding, however this budget was unable to cover some of the medically necessary upgrades that I need to be able to use my new wheelchair safely and comfortably. Unfortunately, I am unable to self fund these upgrades as they come with a very steep price tag.

The upgrades that I need include:

* Jay J3 backrest (£705) - Due to my scoliosis, hypermobility and general muscle weakness I need more support than the standard fabric backrest can provide

* Fendered sideguards (£315) - I use these for safer transfers and to reposition my body while in my chair

* Spinergy SPOX wheels (~£600) - In comparison to the standard wheels that come with Quickie wheelchairs, Spinergy wheels are much lighter and more shock absorbing. This means that they can lower fatigue from self propelling (essential for ME/CFS) and are ideal when paired with a front power attachment (which I will also be using with my new chair).
