I am a single disabled 47-year-old living with osteoarthritis throughout all of my joints. This condition has made it impossible for me to work, and I am now on a fixed income with disability payments. For 16 years, I had my own small cleaning business and worked very hard for my clients, but my health has forced me to step away from the work I loved.
Over the years, I've had to undergo several major surgeries. At 41, I had both knees replaced, and I've had both of my shoulders repaired twice due to rotator cuff injuries. My collarbones have also been reduced twice each. In addition, I've had the CMC joint in my left hand fused, a fusion in my spine, and I have several herniated discs in my back caused by degenerative disc disease and spinal stenosis. In the past 12 years, I've had 10 surgeries, and in the near future, I will need my CMC joint in my right hand replaced and a total replacement surgery on my right shoulder.
Despite all these challenges, I am determined to keep up with my medical care and physical therapy, but lately, my lack of a dependable vehicle has made it difficult. Missing doctors appointments and physical therapy sessions has been a real setback, especially after my second major rotator cuff repair surgery on my left shoulder. I also struggle to pick up my medication when needed, since I live about 30 minutes from any family and delivery from CVS isn't available in my area. Having a reliable vehicle would make a huge difference in my daily life, ensuring I can get to all my appointments and stay on top of my health needs.
Any donation, no matter the size, would be a big blessing! And if given the opportunity, I intend to pay it forward and help bless someone else. Thank you for reading my story and considering support.
