Help Amy (Foote) Marion Fight Rare Thymic Cancer

The Diagnosis

Our dear friend Amy has recently been diagnosed with a very rare cancer called Thymic cancer. This cancer originates in the thymus gland, which typically disappears as we grow into adulthood. Unfortunately, in Amy’s case, the gland persisted and turned cancerous.

The Journey So Far

Thymic cancer is known for being symptomless until it spreads to other parts of the body. For Amy, it presented itself in her shoulder bone. Initially, she thought the pain was work-related, but thankfully, she pushed for further imaging. This led to the discovery of a mass in her shoulder, which turned out to be Thymic cancer. The cancer originated in her chest, traveled through her lymph nodes, and has now spread to her humerus, hips, and ribs.

The Battle Ahead

This is a treatable cancer, but it requires ongoing treatment and regular scans to monitor its progress. While this diagnosis was not what we hoped for, Amy is determined to take it one step at a time. We are incredibly thankful for everyone who has reached out and offered their support. Our world is moving at a million miles a minute right now, but we will keep everyone updated as much as possible.

Thymic cancer is rare, and there is still much we don’t know about it. However, Amy is fortunate to be in one of the best places in the world for treatment. Her doctor is the head of the department and specializes in this specific type of cancer. People come from all over the world to receive treatment here, and Amy is in the best possible hands.
