Help Me Repair My Roof and Weather Life’s Storms
First and foremost, I want to thank God for His continued faithfulness through every storm, both literal and figurative.
In early April, I unexpectedly lost my job, a job that I had poured my heart and soul into for over a year. I was one of the founding team members of a school created to serve children of all abilities and be a strong support network for families. It was my God given purpose, or so I thought. Unfortunately, I was one of many pushed out, which was not only a professional loss but deeply personal as well.
Since then, God has continuously shown up in my life. He has provided small jobs and opportunities that have allowed me to continue serving children and giving back to the community. Work that remains close to my heart. While I'm still searching for a full-time position that aligns with my values, I’ve learned to trust in God’s perfect timing.
However, this season has not been without its challenges.
In the past few months, I’ve faced:
Major roof damage that has begun leaking and must be fixed before further storms arrive.
My AC going out taking a portion of my emergency fund savings.
My car breaking down, adding stress and financial strain.
A lightning strike two weeks ago that damaged my electrical system, TVs, dishwasher, and washing machine.
By God’s grace, I was able to replace the washer (a necessity), but so much more remains unresolved.
Here’s where I am now:
This week, I finally received a fair estimate from a compassionate roofing company, North Florida Roofscapes, my fifth estimate I’ve gotten. This team not only offered the most affordable price, but then after giving my estimate, Justin from North Florida Roofscapes personally went up and tarped the damaged areas to prevent further water intrusion for no cost to me and did not require me to retain them for the job. He additionally went above and beyond by calling me later to tell me he and his wife would donate towards the cost of the repairs as well as a friend of his, for a total of $800. That unexpected kindness and generosity reminded me that God is still providing through others.
Even with these blessings, I still need help. Because I currently don’t have a steady income, I’ve been trying to get approved for a loan, but that process is slow. The roof is my most urgent need and I’m trusting that God will move the hearts of those willing and able to help.
This is incredibly difficult for me to ask. I’ve been a single mom for 13 years, supporting my son on my own, and I’ve never had to reach out like this. But I’m stepping out in faith and humbly asking for help, whether that’s financial support or prayer.
Despite the loss of my job, the breakdown of my car, the roof damage, a failed AC, I still believe better days are ahead. God is still good. I’ve cried, grieved, and felt broken but I know He has greater plans.
I’m thankful for my friends who’ve helped lift me up with encouragement and support, I've been surrounded by love that reminds me that even in the darkest times, God’s light still shines through people.
