Help Amy and Fritz Recover from a Dog Attack!

Hi, my name is Amy Butowicz, and I’m fundraising for my beloved dog Fritz and myself after a traumatic dog attack in our Brooklyn neighborhood.

What Happened

On Monday, May the 19th, in front of 354 41st Street, Brooklyn, NY 11232, my small dog, Fritz, was viciously attacked by an off-leash, light brown large dog. As I bent down to pick him up, the dog lunged, tore Fritz from my arms, and bit me in the process.

The attack was prolonged and extremely violent. This dog clamped onto Fritz in what is often referred to as a “death grip,” causing devastating injuries:

• Multiple puncture wounds

• Sternal luxation

• Fractured ribs

• Extensive soft tissue damage

• An ulcer to his left eye

• Bruised lungs

Fritz spent a week in intensive care at Blue Pearl Veterinary Hospital and is now home, slowly recovering. Sadly, our journey is far from over.

Why I'm Fundraising

This unexpected and traumatic event has left us with medical bills and legal expenses. I’m raising funds to cover:

• Ongoing veterinary bills for Fritz’s recovery.

• My personal medical costs. (urgent care visit, NYU Langone ER, and rabies vaccination series at CityMD)

• Legal counsel for a civil suit.

• The necessary legal steps to have this dangerous dog removed from the neighborhood and to hold its owner accountable.

What Your Help Means

Your support will help us heal and fight for justice—not only for Fritz and myself, but for the safety of our community. Several neighbors confirmed this dog has a history of aggression. A bite report has been filed and an active case is underway.

I'm also seeking any witnesses or anyone with information about previous incidents involving this dog or its owner (who may go by Fabian or Fabian Foster, and may live in apartment 1A).
