Help Amy and Billie-Jo Through Recovery

Donation protected
Hello Everyone. Thank you for reading this and supporting my sister and my mom as she supports my sister.
Have you met my mom or sister? My mom and Amy went to school together from 4th grade up. During my mom’s senior year, she started caring for Amy before and after school. My mom likes to say she is a Lifetime/Hallmark movie. She loved being with Amy and had a different perspective on life. She ended up falling in love with our dad, getting married after she finished college and had me. When I was 18 months old (2004 = 20 years ago next month), our dad died of cancer. Dad wanted Amy to be put into a home but mom said no. She made a promise then to keep her at home and care for her as long as she could (physically). My mom has kept her promise to this day and plans to continue.
Amy has osteoporosis and seemed to suffer an injury at the beginning of June. She told my mom on June 12th “Leg broke, Dr”. So mom took her for x-rays and nothing showed. Amy limped for a week before she struggled to get up the steps at home. Then she struggled getting down the steps. Mom took her to her dr, back to Er, second opinion at EMMC, and finally on Sunday June 30th to Inland Hopsital. With all the x-rays, CT scans, MRI of knee, she had, only 1 showed a hairline fracture. Next CT scan (different angle/view) ruled it out and Amy was sent to Rehab. While exercising and regaining skills to get her home, she took another fall on Sunday July 14th and broke her femur -
compound brake. She was transported to Augusta Maine General where she was admitted, had surgery to fix the bone and place a femoral rod in. She will be transferred back to Lakewood Rehab on Saturday with no idea how long it will take to get her back home. Due to Amy’s communication challenges and mom being her guardian, mom stays with her to translate for her.
Amy wants to go home to be our home with our family and pets. She misses Dexter to dog and her cats so much. She made need a ramp, walk-in shower, and other things to get her home.
We (my brother, sister in law, aunt and uncle) believe she has a long road ahead of her. To help with the challenges that she may be facing, which could in turn be financial challenging to my mom, we started this fundraiser to help support Amy and my mom for all their possible needs today and all the days ahead.
My mom is always doing for others, especially in the school district and community helping others, on top of being a Preschool teacher and keeping her promise to care for Amy at home.
If you are willing and able to help support, please do. If you are not, we understand that too.
Can you please share and get the word out? Especially in our awesome community.
THANK YOU!
