Since 1987, Larry “Hollywood” LaFavre has been the heart and soul of every party, supplying the music and endless laughter he’s best known for. My dad’s old school humor and larger than life personality has become a staple of Rock Falls, IL. Friends and family can attest to the fun that always follows Hollywood.
Unfortunately, the last few years have been extremely difficult for my family. My brother and my dad’s only son, Brandon, was killed in June of 2016. It has been years of grief and pain ever since, and will be for the rest of our lives. We have done what we can to live our lives in a way Brandon would be proud of. Dad especially has embraced Brandon’s attitude of living life to the fullest, and never taking a single day for granted. Even in these very dark days, my dad has always been able to make us laugh.
The hard times are only getting harder. On Valentine’s Day of this year, Dad was diagnosed with colon cancer. A few weeks later, we received the devastating news that the cancer had metastasized in his lungs, labeling him stage four. He immediately began an aggressive treatment to fight the cancer, a battle he is determined to win.
Hollywood needs your support.
My dad is only 49 years old and full of so much life, but cancer and treatment are incredibly hard on the body, leaving him unable to work. His focus needs to be on rest and healing, not worried about financial burdens.
Times are especially hard for everyone right now, which makes it even more difficult to ask for help. Even the smallest amount will alleviate the stress and aid my dad on his journey to better health. Your generosity during this pandemic is so greatly appreciated.
