Help Amora get rid of her Lipedema
Donation protected
As many of you know,I have Lipedema. Lipedema is an inherited disease. It's an abnormal build-up of fat, mostly in legs , but can also be in your arms, stomach, and buttocks. It can be very painful and affect daily life. It is mostly found in women. Many times it's just thought a woman is "fat". However, diet or exercise will not make it go away. In fact it is fed off of hormones. And women have a lot of those!! It first presents itself at puberty, it grows by means or pregnancy, stress, and menopause.
I first noticed my legs were "different" at 13. Through my teens, family referred to my legs as 'table'legs.
As my body developed, my but and hips grew. It 'looked' good ! Later, upon taking birth control and finally having 2 beautiful kids, I realized losing weight became more difficult.
That is normal right? Wrong, when working out and eating healthier, the weight wouldn't move as quickly as other women and even after dropping 60 pounds my legs never became defined! Fast forward 20 yrs later and now I've gained 80 pounds! Despite diet and exercise, nothing is changing.
My legs ache constantly,my knees hurt, and my lower back is excruciating! I have gone to several doctors and finally learned that I have Lipedema! It has gone from a Stage 2 to Stage 3!
Insurance is denying all of my requests for compression garments, as well as surgery because the only way to remove Lipedema fat is an instrument used in liposuction (which is viewed as cosmetic).
I need 3 surgeries that will total $60,000
I am asking for your help in making this surgery possible this summer. I miss working, I miss being active. I just want my life back.
