Hello everyone,
I would love to introduce you to Amnoni Meyers, a dear and cherished friend of mine. Amnoni has struggled since childhood with poverty and growing up in a broken foster care system. She continues to impress me at every turn with how creative and resilient she is as she creates the life she wants. I am asking anyone who knows and loves Amnoni, or anyone who believes that communities can heal, to contribute to the GoFundMe I have created for Amnoni’s journey. Amnoni is changing cities and needs help funding her moving expenses as she searches for a less expensive life and a place to call home. Amnoni has written the most powerful of memoirs about foster care, loss, and moving forward despite incredible hardship. I’ve had the honor of reading most of Amnoni’s memoir. In it she talks about her difficult childhood in foster care and overcoming incredible odds to find her life and herself. I can’t do Amnoni’s story justice, so I requested she send me information about her life and situation so you might learn more about my amazing friend:
“From the moment I finished graduate school I thought that things would be easier financially, but with undergraduate, and Grad school debt, it has been difficult to get ahead in California. Growing up in the foster care system and not having a lot of support has made transitions like this difficult because I've had to rely on community. I've been given an opportunity to relocate somewhere more affordable and, while I have a job ready for me when I arrive, I don't have the financial means to support this move. As you can imagine, moving costs are more expensive because of the pandemic. It would mean the world to have your support. I am working on my first memoir and as a token of my appreciation for your generosity I would like to include you in the acknowledgements section of my book.”
Thank you so much, my friends, for helping Amnoni with this important life transition, and thank you, Amnoni, for your cherished friendship, connection, and courage. I love you.
