Help Ammo Get Vital Heart Care Today

Hey y'all, I’m Dell, Ammo's dad. I wanted to share what’s been going on with him. Ammo’s been battling some serious heart issues. After being diagnosed with early congestive heart failure around Mother’s Day 2024, we started him on meds, and he responded really well. His follow-up echocardiogram even showed a healthy heart, so we decided to take him off the meds to monitor him. Unfortunately, a few weeks later, his symptoms came back, and we put him back on the meds. For a while, he seemed to be doing okay, especially for a 12-year-old dog—he just celebrated his birthday on September 21st. He’s not the spry 110-pound pit bull he used to be, but he was still playful and enjoying life.
Then last Wednesday, while we were having a great time playing tug-of-war, Ammo suddenly stopped, laid down, and his breathing slowed until it stopped. To save you the sad details, I had to do CPR on Ammo until he started breathing on his own. It was one of the scariest moments of my life. I rushed him to the ER for more tests. I’ve been doing everything I can and have some help from friends, but I’m still struggling with the costs. He needs another echocardiogram and possibly a 24-hour Holter monitor to check his heart. The vets think he might have an arrhythmia, which could be treatable, but I want to make sure he gets the care he needs.
Ammo is such an amazing dog and has touched so many lives with his love. We’ve been through so much together in the last 12 years, and I couldn’t ask for a better companion. If you’re able to help in any way, I’d be incredibly grateful. It has taken everything in me to muster up the strength and vulnerability to reach out to my community for support; any contributions are greatly appreciated and a HUGE help. Thank you all so much!
