Help Ammie: A Mother in Need of Aid
Donation protected
Hi my name is Jessica and my friend Amiee is in need of help. Ammie was a triathlon athlete and single mother of two. She is now in heartfailure and dealing with medical complications. She has been trying to get by on very little and needs our help! I know all of us have little few to give but please help if you can! This is her story in her own words:
My name is Ammie Black, and I am reaching out to you with a heartfelt plea for support. After receiving the COVID-19 vaccination in 2020, my health began to decline dramatically. I now suffer from increased shortness of breath and muscle weakness, making everyday tasks like climbing the stairs in my home an overwhelming challenge. My legs buckle under me, and I feel as though I’ve run a marathon, with burning lungs and legs, and a racing heart that leaves me collapsing in pain.
In addition to these struggles, my digestive system causes constant distress. I endure relentless stomach pain and nausea, making it difficult to eat or sleep. My body often rejects food, leading to repeated vomiting and severe dehydration. As a result, my body swells with painful edema, which has persisted for several years.
To cope with these issues, I am now fed through a tube directly into my stomach, receiving liquid nourishment prescribed by my doctor. Despite this, the pain and nausea persist, often triggering seizures that can last for hours or even days. I also have a PICC line placed in my arm that is replaced every two months to manage hydration and administer medications for nausea, pain, and sleep.
Due to my debilitating health, I lost my job in January 2022. In an effort to support my family, I started my own business coaching athletes from home, but the income is not enough to sustain us. I applied for disability benefits in the fall of 2022, but my application was denied after a six-month wait, with the judge citing my past employment as evidence of my ability to work.
The reality is that I am unable to work because my body is too weak to endure hours of standing or even sitting. I frequently pass out and have suffered injuries from falls. I need daily assistance with basic tasks such as using the toilet, bathing, managing my PICC line, and receiving nourishment through my feeding tube. My family helps with household chores and yard work, but the financial burden is overwhelming.
I am humbly asking for your help to cover medical expenses, daily living costs, and to provide for my children. Any contribution, no matter how small, will make a significant difference in our lives. If you are unable to donate, please consider sharing our campaign with your network. Your kindness and generosity mean the world to us.
Thank you for your support and for being part of our journey.
