I'm Maurice, in Houston, Texas; I met Ammar some two or three years ago. Since October 7, he and his family have lost their home (as seen in the picture) and are refugees in the southern part of Gaza. I consider him a friend, and would be happy to help him if I had the financial ability to do so. Since I don't have that possibility, I'm doing this campaign. Stop here and listen to my story. I am Ammar Aburida, from Gaza; as any Gazan person, I am suffering a lot. I am responsible for five people, including my wife. We are afraid. We have been displaced from area to area without anything, and the most difficult thing that our house—the house in which we built our dreams—has been destroyed. For years we were trying to complete it, but unfortunately it was not completed. All our dreams were lost with its destruction. Now we have no shelter if we return. Today I am in Rafah, responsible for my house and for my family as well. Life here is very expensive; no one can bear what we are experiencing. We have lost everything. Ramadan has come and I do not have anything to feed my family; also our gas cooking is finished and we are working on fire. Can you imagine that you are fasting and work on fire? It's impossible for anyone to handle it. And the unimaginable thing that the prices here are extremely expensive so it makes the matter even more difficult for me to buy all needs even simple things. Imagine that my son has taken on responsibility since he was young. He goes long distances to get water and to buy what we need he deprived of his childhood. Help me feed my children.
