Help Amirah Get to the AAU Junior Olympics
Hey Family and Friends,
As most of you know, Amirah is athletic and has been playing sports her whole life. This year we embarked on a new journey into track & field. It started with her being on her middle school team where she made it into the finals for 100 meter hurdles. This summer we began training with the Ohio Rockets, an AAU team located here in Columbus. With the Rockets, Amirah was introduced to Shot Put and her first week competing she placed 3rd in her age group. Her next meet was a District Qualifier to move on to Regionals, she placed first. During her regional meet she placed 3rd to move on to the AAU Junior Olympics in Houston, TX. In addition to Shot Put, she was also introduced to Discus her second week of training & competing with the Rockets. Her first time competing in Discus meet was a District Qualifier to move on to Regionals where she placed second. Her third time was at Regionals in and she also placed 3rd to move on to the AAU Junior Olympics.
Monetary donations are being raised to help offset the cost of travel and lodging to the Junior Olympics. Definitely something we weren’t expecting to participate in. At the end of the day even if she doesn’t win, I just want to give her the opportunity to go out there and have fun, try her best, and enjoy the experience.
As always we appreciate your continued support and thank you for being apart of our village.
Love Always,
Keia & Amirah
