Help Amira Dance Through the Pain
With heavy hearts, we (Jon & Annaleise) are reaching out for support as our family navigates a difficult time with our beautiful and spirited daughter, Amira.
Amira is a passionate dancer, cheerleader, pageant competitor, and contortionist with scoliosis. Diagnosed at 9 years old, she was placed under a “wait and see” plan with her pediatric orthopedic team. Unfortunately, her condition has rapidly worsened and progressed to an S-shaped spinal curve measuring 38degrees. Additionally, she has a knee-length discrepancy caused by her scoliosis that is further complicating her condition.
To slow the progression and avoid an invasive and very costly spinal fusion surgery, Amira will need to wear a specialized brace until she’s done growing and undergo a noninvasive knee surgery. This treatment will preserve her ability to move freely and continue pursuing the activities she loves. However, our insurance does not cover the brace, even though it's considered medically necessary; the total cost we are responsible for is $5,000
Our goal is to give Amira the best chance to heal, grow, and return to doing what she loves — dancing, performing, and embracing her dreams. We are humbly asking for help to cover the costs of her treatment.
Every contribution brings Amira one step closer to a pain-free future and helps her keep doing what she loves most.
