My name is Amir Moore, and I’m a graduate of Antioch High School and a current college student. I’m incredibly proud and grateful to share that I’ve been contracted to march the 2026 Blue Devils A Corps trumpet section for my age-out season. For those unfamiliar, Drum Corps International (DCI) is a nationwide summer activity where performers rehearse full-time and tour across the country, performing elite level productions in stadiums all summer long. The Blue Devils are the most accomplished organization in the activity, boasting 21 world championships, and being part of it has been a dream of mine for years.
This season is especially meaningful. My acceptance into the corps makes me the first Antioch High alumnus to make the Blue Devils A Corps. Coming from a program with fewer resources and less national exposure, reaching this level feels especially meaningful, and being part of breaking that barrier means everything to me. My path here wasn’t traditional. I’ve never taken private lessons, and I haven’t been part of a college music program. My growth came from hours of solo practice, persistence, and the determination to prove that a student from an underdog high school program can stand on the same stage as the best musicians in the world. Earning this contract represents years of work and belief.
Now, I’m facing the biggest hurdle: the financial commitment. As a college student, money is tight, and the cost of tuition, tour fees, travel, and equipment costs for the summer makes this opportunity a real challenge to afford on my own. This is my final year of eligibility to march DCI, and finishing my journey with Blue Devils would mean more than I can put into words. I want to spend my final summer representing the idea that excellence is a choice, ensuring that while I may be the first from my school to reach this level, I will certainly not be the last. Any support, whether it’s sharing this page or contributing, helps more than you know. Thank you for taking the time to read this and for helping me make history.
