Hello, my name is Calee and I’m a long time friend of Leila and DJ Hickman. I’m organizing this Go Fund me on behalf of Leila and DJ for their 5 month old son Amir, who has recently been diagnosed with embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma stage 1 group 2. Every 3 weeks, he will go through full VAC chemotherapy which also includes getting a Vincristine infusion on days 8 and 15, for a total of 26 weeks. Amir has already gone through an emergency surgery, 3 blood transfusions, and multiple overnight stays in the ER. Amir has numerous medications he has to take on a daily basis that are very costly. Despite having a port placed in his chest, he remains the happiest baby I’ve ever seen. In addition to Amir’s cancer diagnosis, Leila has endured multiple strokes (while pregnant with Amir) due to major clotting in her brain, which has left her unable to work per her doctor’s orders. Unfortunately, her employer has denied her disability which has left Leila trying to juggle all of Amir’s appointments, on top of her own, while continuing to show up to her job. DJ is in school for plumbing on top of working a full time job to support their family but the medical costs are just too high. There was a previous Gofundme set up for the family but unfortunately, Leila and Dj did not have access to the funds and it was shut down. (If you already donated, please don’t double donate.
