Goal: $50,000 to provide safe housing and medical support for artist Amina Mucciolo as they recover from chronic illness, autistic burnout and housing loss.
Hi, I’m Lavender Rose, Amina’s best friend, partner and manager. I’m organizing this fundraiser because Amina is in crisis. Ever since losing our home “Cloudland”, they have been surviving under impossible pressure without rest, without support, and without safety. She has been supporting our little family, despite their condition, the entire time.
They’ve endured a lot…including being publicly insulted and racially targeted by a well known CEO in the toy industry, an experience that still haunts them.
I organized this GoFundMe because Amina and I are facing housing insecurity and she needs support to heal. They haven’t had a conversation with another person or left the house in months. As Amina has become increasingly isolated, all she has been able to do is work and scrape by instead of recovering. I am so worried about them. As time has gone on, they’ve become physically sicker, mentally exhausted and less able to function normally. This fundraiser is to provide housing and support for Amina and I, as she focuses on taking care of themselves. Additionally, funds will be used to legally protect their artwork and legacy. I know that with your help, we can get her well again… so they can return with paintbrush in hand and a fit to match!
In case this is the first time you’re hearing about Amina; their work is basically a healing hug for your inner child! She is an artist, writer, and advocate for self-expression and neurodivergent visibility. Amina has spent the past decade using her voice, art, and physical presence to spread color, kindness, and creativity across social media. They are known for their rainbow hair, playful fashion, and uplifting visual art, and as an autistic creative, she is best described as a living, human rainbow.
We’ve faced serious housing discrimination and harassment from our landlord, Brookfield properties, which has left us in crisis. Despite working with an attorney and trying to resolve the issue, we’re now being pushed toward losing our home; our landlord is trying to ensure we are unable to rent in the future. The stress and uncertainty have taken a severe toll on Amina’s health. Your help will not only make sure Amina stays housed and safe, but it will enable them to create art and spread joy.
Autistic burnout is the total collapse of the body’s ability to cope due to a lack of support, stress and masking. It’s very serious and includes intense emotional and physical fatigue, and if left untreated, can result in cognitive decline, physical deterioration and suicidality. I don’t want Amina to experience this any longer. They have been through hell and she has been in burnout for eight years and is steadily getting worse. This has to stop. So, I’m stepping up to support them and am asking for your help, so they can fully recover. Amina has been a rainbow for so many of us, especially me. It’s our turn to be the rainbow in their cloud!
As you may know, Amina really wanted to make a new Cloudland. I wish we could be fundraising for that right now instead, but that isn’t possible because Amina needs to focus on rehabilitating, and I need to focus on keeping us housed and Amina healthy. It would be so much easier if Amina hadn’t been consistently stolen from and copied instead of being paid and credited like they deserve. Nearly everything they’ve created has been appropriated in one way or another, an experience all too common for Black artists like Amina.
You might think I’m biased but I think Amina is a genius. But apparently everyone agrees with me, because look at how many big brands have been “inspired” by Amina’s work.
