Hello everyone!

I am creating this GoFundMe with hopes that loved ones and members of the community would support me in getting to Cuzco, Peru this summer for a study/intern abroad trip. Last summer, I received immense support which aided tremendously in the opportunity I had to spend a month studying abroad in Barcelona, Spain (see main photo.). I know many of you donated previously, so I am not expecting for much this year! Being given this opportunity again is a true blessing and gift from God that I will forever be grateful for.

More about me: I am a Montgomery County, Maryland resident and just completed my junior year at Norfolk State University. I am a social work major, pursuing a BSW and very soon I will be pursuing my MSW. I desire to become a school social worker and pour back into the MCPS community in the same way that it has poured into me. I also have a desire and plan to become a legislative social worker, as I truly value and recognize the need for quality policy evaluation and implementation. Throughout my career, I plan to start a non-profit geared towards Black and Hispanic lower-income families dealing with food insecurity, different forms of violence, and drug abuse. I have an innate passion for service, which I believe will be directly transferred to my time in Cuzco.

I will be spending a month in Cuzco, working with an orphanage. Several young boys and girls live in the orphanage who need an abundance of love and support. I am really looking forward to the bonds I will create and the impact that I will make in their lives in just a month! I will be there from July to August 2025. Studying abroad last year was a fruitful opportunity, made possible by my huge support system, and I hope this year it can happen again! I am so interested to see the cultural differences between Spain and Peru, and to experience what it's like to work in another country and not just study abroad!

As a first-generation and middle/low-income college student, the cost of the trip is worrisome for me and my family. Luckily, my university has offered to help with some of the program fees, however, I am responsible for covering my flight ($1,200), and my daily costs of living in Peru for a month. Your support would assist with covering expenses such as transportation costs around the city, meals, travel necessities, and leisure spending; even the upcoming tuition expenses (which have already been applied to my account) for my final two semesters at NSU.

Any assistance is beyond appreciated. If you are not able to assist, if you can steer me in the direction where I may be able to obtain help, I would be forever grateful.
