Losing everything to a meth rental
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Dee and I'm desperately trying to raise funds to replace our household items for myself and 3 children after moving into a rental that recently returned a positive result to methamphetamine.
Approximately 80% of our personal belongings have been damaged, with all porous items needing to be disposed of once we secure another rental.
This includes furniture, 4 mattresses, bedding, linen, towels, clothing for 4 people, toys- sensory items for a neuro-divergent child, school uniforms and equipment, trampoline, dog beds and any other items that cannot be forensically cleaned. That's if any items are salvageable at all.
There's disposal costs, moving costs and the ridiculously high utility bills to pay as a result of extensive cleaning.
There's an outstanding vet bill after our dog required a cancer tumour removal in January (undetermined whether it was associated with months of toxicity exposure).
There is damage to our cars carpet, upholstery and car seat from suspected contamination-waiting on testing . I'm unsure whether a car cleaning professional can remove the methamphetamine from the upholstery or if I will need to purchase another vehicle.
I'm navigating my way through this thoroughly exhausted, financially depleted and struggling to find any legislation that will make my landlord liable for costs.
I've spent years volunteering in the community and am a person that prefers giving than receiving, so setting up a Go Fund Me page is my last resort in an attempt to start over as my insurances don't cover this type of damage.
And I highly doubt my landlord has insurance to cover our costs either.
I know the current cost of living is tough on everyone, so if you can spare
the cost of a take away coffee or share
my fundraiser, I am deeply grateful.
Thankyou
