Help American Samoa Women’s Flag Football reach ‘28 Olympics

We are thrilled to share that American Samoa has been given an unprecedented opportunity to participate in the IFAF Asia-Oceania Women’s Flag Football Championships in Ningbo, China, this coming October 23–27, 2025.  

Recently, Nikki Keresoma Verdugo was contacted by Vaiala Ethan Lake, Secretary General of the American Samoa National Olympic Committee (ASNOC), and officially invited to serve as Head Coach of the American Samoa Women’s Flag Football Team. With his authorization, Nikki has begun assembling a talented team of women athletes of Samoan and/or Polynesian ethnicity.  

This moment is bigger than a tournament—it’s the beginning of a movement.  

Our ultimate goal is to qualify and prepare for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, where Flag Football will make its Olympic debut. This opportunity offers American Samoa a global platform to showcase the strength, resilience, and talent of Polynesian women athletes—and to inspire a new generation.  

However, ASNFF and ASNOC will not be providing financial support. We must raise funds independently to make this dream a reality. We are humbly seeking to raise $50,000 to cover:  

Team registration fees 

Airfare/Travel 

Transportation 

Lodging 

Meals  

Uniforms 

Equipment 

Visas & travel documents

As a developing U.S. territory, American Samoa faces many challenges, including limited economic opportunities, high living costs, and restricted access to resources. But despite these obstacles, our athletes are ready to rise—with your help.  

This tournament will not only elevate the sport of women’s flag football but empower young Polynesian women through sports, leadership, and international exposure. Your contribution will directly help us compete at the highest level and plant the seeds for long-term success.
