Ayuda a Amelie a Respirar y Oír sin Dolor: Fondos para Cirugía 

Mi nombre es Yadileth Bohorquez, y soy la mamá de Amelie Lara, una niña hermosa y valiente de 4 años. Hoy recurro a ti con el corazón en la mano, pidiendo una mano amiga para que nuestra pequeña pueda volver a tener una infancia sana.

Cuando Amelie comenzó su primer año de escuela, comenzó a presentar síndromes virales propios de un niño en edad escolar, pero pronto se volvieron muy frecuentes y empezaron a aparecer infecciones. Pasamos de una niña activa a una niña que padece constantemente de congestión nasal y tos persistente que no la dejan dormir, infecciones de oído recurrentes que le causan dolor y dificultad en su audición.

En varias oportunidades hubo que salir de emergencia por ataques de tos fuertes y repentinos, y en una ocasión tuvo un ataque de tos tan severo que la llevó a una hospitalización de 3 días.

El Diagnóstico: Dolor crónico y Riesgo auditivo.

Durante más de tres meses, las visitas al pediatra se triplicaron. Al principio, nos decían que era "normal" por ser su primer año en la escuela. Pero el problema no se iba.

Tras meses de visitas a especialistas (alergólogos y otorrinolaringólogos), finalmente tenemos un diagnóstico que explica porque se enferma tan continuamente: Líquido crónico detrás de sus tímpanos y Adenoiditis Crónica.

La Solución: Cirugía Urgente

Es una cirugía que debe de realizarse lo antes posible para colocar tubos de ventilación en sus oídos (para drenar el líquido) y realizar una adenoidectomía (extirpar el tejido adenoideo inflamado).

La Cirugía es vital para:

Poner fin a las infecciones dolorosas, prevenir posibles problemas de audición y permitirle respirar libremente y dormir toda la noche.

Nuestra carga financiera

En medio de todo este proceso, hemos acumulado una deuda médica significativa que incluye: cientos de dólares en copagos y visitas de emergencia a especialistas, el remanente no cubierto por el seguro para la cirugía (la parte más grande del gasto). Y aparte están gastos post-operatorios y medicamentos.

Help Amelie Breathe and Hear: Funds for Ear and Adenoid Surgery

My name is Yadileth Bohorquez, and I am the mother of Amelie Lara, a beautiful and brave 4-year-old girl. I come to you today with a heartfelt plea, asking for a helping hand so our little girl can return to a healthy, pain-free childhood.

When Amelie started her first year of school, she began experiencing the viral syndromes typical of a child her age. However, these quickly became frequent and led to continuous infections. We went from having an active child to one who constantly suffers from persistent nasal congestion and a chronic cough that keeps her from sleeping, along with recurrent ear infections that cause intense pain and make hearing difficult.

On several occasions, we had to rush her to the emergency room due to severe, sudden coughing fits. One coughing attack was so severe it required a 3-day hospitalization.

The Diagnosis: Chronic Pain and Hearing Risk

For more than three months, our visits to the pediatrician tripled. Initially, we were told this was "normal" for her first year of school, but the problem never went away.

After months of consulting specialists (allergists and ENTs), we finally have a diagnosis that explains why she is constantly ill: Chronic Fluid behind her Eardrums (Chronic Otitis Media with Effusion) and Chronic Adenoiditis.

The Solution: URGENT Surgery

The solution is a surgery that must be performed as soon as possible to give Amelie relief. The procedure includes placing ventilation tubes in her ears (to drain the fluid) and performing an adenoidectomy (to remove the inflamed adenoid tissue).

This surgery is vital to:

End the painful infections she constantly battles, prevent potential permanent hearing loss and allow her to finally breathe freely and sleep soundly through the night.

Our Financial Burden

During this entire process, we have accumulated significant medical debt. Our financial needs cover hundreds of dollars in co-pays and emergency specialist visits, the large out-of-pocket balance not covered by insurance for the surgery (the biggest part of the expense) and post-operative care, follow-up visits, and necessary medications.
