My name is Amelia, and I am asking for help after an unexpected loss left me without reliable transportation. On August 10, 2026, I purchased a used 2023 Volkswagen ID.4 Pro in Kona and put $2,500 down to make it possible. I chose an electric vehicle because my commute to work is 49 miles each way, and there are EV chargers at my workplace, which made it a practical and affordable choice for my daily life. Just five days later, during Hurricane Lala, an 'ohia tree fell on my car while it was parked in my driveway. GEICO determined the vehicle was a total loss, and the settlement amount is less than what I still owe on the loan through Bank of Hawaii.
That has left me facing a financial loss of about $4,000, along with the reality that I still need a replacement vehicle for work and everyday life. The funds raised here will help me pay off the remaining balance on the car loan and make a down payment on another dependable vehicle so I can get back on the road. I am not looking for anything extra, only a chance to recover from this setback and return to reliable transportation. If you are able to help, please know that every contribution will go directly toward closing this gap. And if you are not in a position to donate, sharing my fundraiser would mean so much to me as well. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your kindness, encouragement, and support.
