Help Ambra Save Her Sight

Hi everyone! If you know me, you know I'm mom to two amazing teens and a 21y/o and I work at a busy animal hospital. If you know my parents, I'm the youngest child of Logan Keith and Debbie Arnold. Whether or not you know me, thanks for taking the time to click your way here.

 

Long story short, I'm trying to raise money for cataract surgery so I can reverse my vision loss.

 

I've always had bad vision but it's seriously deteriorated these past few years. When I got glasses last year, my right lens was -12. Since then, my sight has gotten to where it wasn't correctable with a lens at all rendering me effectively blind in that eye. My "good" eye was a -7 and has also gotten worse, though not as quickly. In short, I'm pretty physically impaired by this point and I get frequent headaches. While I'll never see 20/20, the doctor said surgery would be life changing for me.

 

A lot of you have been asking how bad it is and how it impacts my life but focusing on that is depressing for me. Instead, I'd like to focus on the things I'll be able to do once I've had surgery. Mostly, I'm excited to be able to engage with my kids more. I've lost depth perception so I'm not as physically active with them as I was. I'm excited to be able to see the things they want to show me instead of reminding them I'm visually impaired and asking them to describe it. I'm looking forward to getting back into photography and crafting. I'd love to be an avid reader again. I want to be able to go to museums and watch TV with my family. There was a lot I took for granted that I have a whole new appreciation for.

 

I've been putting money aside in an HSA, I'm applying for financing, and my spouse is working extra hours and donating plasma. Surgery for both is going to be close to $5,000. If I happen to raise more than I need, the excess will go to related expenses like lenses and doctors visits. Anything over that I'll donate to the Lions Vision Services.
