Help Amber's Family Through This Crisis

Hello, my name is Vallery Coleman Shoe. I am a friend of the family for Amber Stewart Holland, Assistant Principal at Mac Williams Middle School. Amber is married to William "Billy" Holland and they have two beautiful children, Keely, 17, and Will, 13. Amber is blessed with a big, loving family: her father, Keith Stewart Sr.; mother, Veronica Stewart; sisters, Shannon George and Tabitha Strickland; and a brother, Keith Stewart Jr. Her in-laws are Alan and Mary Holland Bergstrom.

Saturday, January 31st, Billy was on his shift as a Ft. Bragg Fire Fighter when the call came...the one no one is ever prepared to receive. Amber was found unconscious in a pool of blood. Her precious children are the true heroes as they handled the situation perfectly, calling 911 and their father. Once transported to Cape Fear Valley Hospital, it was deemed she needed to be transported to UNC Chapel Hill for the best care...certainly the longest ride ever for Billy—in an ambulance forced to drive 30 mph due to the blizzard of 2026. Amber had suffered a brain aneurysm and fell face down. UNC was waiting for her to arrive and wasted no time taking care of her. Soon her head would be drilled to relieve the pressure and bleeding. An angiogram was performed and they were able to coil the aneurysm and start a drip for the blood clot. Amber is sedated to keep the agitation at a minimum. As of now, she is expected to remain in ICU for 14-20 days.

Billy and the children have not left her side and their intentions are not to leave until Amber can return home. They are renting a room nearby the hospital. If you know Billy, you know that he is a "giver" not a "receiver". I am very thankful that he allowed us (with much persuasion) to create the GoFundMe. Everyone has asked, "What can we do?" At this point, I feel sure, they don't know what they are doing much less what we can do. The remedy is creating this GoFundMe, giving an opportunity to help with lodging, travel expenses, food, medical bills, etc. It is my prayer that we bless this family as they have blessed all of us.

Once Amber is home, it is my intention to begin a meal train—more information forthcoming. I will keep you posted every couple of days as to her progress.

Most of all, your prayers for Amber and the family are appreciated. Monetary gifts are important, but those prayers are a must as we know HE hears them and is the greatest physician of all times. We will pray for the doctors, nurses, and every single person that touches Amber.

Regards,
Vallery Coleman Shoe
