On July 18, 2025, neighbors in Southwest Los Angeles found a stray dog wandering the streets. She had no microchip and looked like she'd been on her own for quite a while—dirty, underweight, and with broken teeth. They named her Amber.

It quickly became clear that finding her original owner might not be possible—or in her best interest. Instead of taking her to an overcrowded shelter we neighbors cared for her for a week, getting her vet care, food, walks, a safe place to sleep, and lots of love. We also found her a foster! On July 25th, Amber went to stay with her foster mom, who has been incredibly kind but can only keep her until August 14. After that, we'll

take her back and do our best as a community to care for her until we can find her a forever home.

We’re raising funds to cover Amber’s medical care and daily needs. She still needs to be spayed and requires dental work. We're also looking to cover the cost of food, supplies, and basic care while she's with us.

The situation for dogs in Los Angeles is heartbreaking. Many are abandoned or “dumped,” and with local shelters overwhelmed, too many end up being euthanized. It’s up to community members and rescue groups to step in and help dogs like Amber find safety and love.
