My name is Amber, and I am a mom of a 12-year-old son, working hard to provide for our household while pursuing my dream of becoming a lawyer.

I have balanced work, parenting, and education, always striving to give my son a stable and loving home. When he was just two years old, I had to make the decision to leave the biological father because of crimes he was being investigated for, and charged with which was CSAM. It was a difficult time and I was shocked by the fact that it even occurred and I had to leave for the well-being of myself and my son. That person is no longer in our lives. I became a single mom driven by the light in my son's eyes and faith with a sense of purpose to be of service to others who may be in challenging circumstances like myself at that time. I tell you this because that impacted mine and my son's life significantly. I had one plan and then something from left field happens you couldn't imagine and everything changes.

I managed to complete my undergrad education and obtain a full time job to provide for myself and my son with help along the way from family and my boyfriend. My actual education goal was to go to law school but I had to put that on pause in order to focus on work and being a provider for my son these last 10 years.

Now, I am finally preparing to take the July 2026 California Bar Exam—a goal that I never let go of, is finally here.

To give myself the best chance of success, I want to take two and a half months off from work to study full-time. I have saved enough paid leave for one month, but the remaining two months will be unpaid.

The funds raised will be applied to the CA BAR fees and costs ($1554) including related cost for staying at the venue the 2-day exam is hosted ($407). The remainder of funds raised will go towards to supplement my loss of income during the unpaid leave for one-and-a-half months for continuity of Xander's tuition, rent, medical insurance, and other standard bills my pay check would have covered.
