My name is Amber, and I’m currently in my second year of the Fitness, Recreation and Wellness Management associate’s degree program at Madison College. I’ve been given an incredible opportunity to participate in a global studies seminar in Germany—a program that brings together students from Madison College, Waukesha County Technical College, and our sister schools in Northern Ireland and Germany. This week-long seminar is a unique chance to learn, travel, and build connections with students from around the world, all while earning credits toward my degree.
I chose this program because it aligns perfectly with my academic, professional, and personal goals. Academically, it will help me complete my associate’s degree. Professionally, I dream of a career in wellness that could one day take me around the world, and this seminar is my first step toward that dream. Personally, I’m eager to discover more about myself through new experiences and perspectives. Last year, I was fortunate to participate as a host in America, building strong friendships with students from Germany and Northern Ireland. Now, I’m excited to continue those relationships as they host me in Germany—my first time traveling and studying abroad!
Unfortunately, I was not selected for the Gilman scholarship, which means I need to find another way to fund this experience. The money I raise will cover the entire cost of the school-sanctioned trip, including food, housing, flights, transportation, and daily outings. As a full-time student working part-time, balancing my financial needs with academic opportunities is always a challenge. That’s why I’m reaching out to my community for help. Any support—whether it’s a donation, sharing my fundraiser, or words of encouragement—would mean the world to me. Thank you for helping me take this important step toward my goals and for being part of my journey!
