My name is Amber Sickmiller and I am a dialysis patient along with being born with Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus. Within the last year, I lost a ton of fat and muscle mass, at one point looking like a starving child because I was gaining an insane amount of fluid in my abdomen. They haven't been able to explain the exact reason. More recently, my hemoglobin has been sticking around 8 and below, leading to a lot of blood transfusions, which makes me feel very fatigued and very out of breath doing the smallest things, like brushing my hair. I am not going for a transplant, so basically when dialysis decides to stop working, that's my time. I'm trying to enjoy the last few years I probably have, but of course, the medical bills are stacking up, and we got behind on other things last year. I just wanna make some small memories for my loved ones. I'm not looking to cross the country or visit foreign lands. Just some different things I never was able to do before. Pay off some things that will make it easier for Adam when I'm gone. Just general life stuff that comes with diminished mobility.
