I’m writing this on behalf of my dear friend Amber, who recently went through one of the most frightening moments of her life. Amber is single, and Shadow isn’t just her dog — he is her family. He’s one of those rare, once-in-a-lifetime soul dogs who becomes your constant, your comfort, and your home. Shadow has been by Amber’s side through everything, and the bond they share is deep, steady, and unconditional.

Without warning, Shadow suffered a sudden medical emergency and needed immediate, life-saving surgery. What should have been an ordinary day turned into a rush of fear and impossible decisions made in moments. Thankfully, the surgery was successful, and Shadow is now home, healing, and slowly regaining his strength.

While the outcome was the best possible medically, the financial reality has been overwhelming. Emergency diagnostics, surgery, hospitalization, and follow-up care have created an expense no one can truly prepare for. Amber is doing everything she can, but she can’t carry this alone.
