My name is Amber Lara and I’m a professional musician living in New York City.
Unfortunately, this past weekend after playing a set, my instrument was knocked over by a group of drunk people. Although they were nice about it, they tried to help and only made it worse. Because of their recklessness, my baritone saxophone sustained $650 worth of damages and I will not be able to play it for 2-3 weeks.
I will be starting a new job working at the Stanford Jazz Workshop for the Summer and I start in a couple weeks. Having to pay my July rent and my plane tickets to San Francisco, I’m afraid I will not be able to afford the cost of this repair. I negotiated and got the repair down to $650 as the damages were originally pushing $1,000.
My heart is broken as this is my livelihood. I play my baritone sax every single night. Any help I could get would be greatly appreciated, as there are no available rentals I can work out in the meantime. My saxophone is my child, my baby, and these next few weeks without it are going to be really hard emotionally and financially. Any and all help, even if it’s just sharing the link, will be greatly appreciated and super helpful. Thank you
-Amber Lara
