In August 2025, my life changed in an instant when I was run over by a city bus in Santa Monica, CA. I remember opening my eyes and realizing I was trapped under the bus, struggling to pull myself to safety as it prepared to leave the stop. The pain was overwhelming, and I had to use every ounce of strength to drag myself to the curb. As the bus took off, it brushed against my entire body, and I feared for my life. My left foot was crushed, and my ankle and hip were badly injured. I let out a scream that, thankfully, triggered my iPhone to call emergency services. Lying in the street, I was in shock and pain, and although bystanders did not help, the EMS team arrived and got me to safety. That night, my only help was my phone, myself, and the first responders who came to my aid.

Since then, I have faced a long and difficult road to recovery. The physical pain and emotional trauma have been immense, and I am now dealing with mounting medical bills, the challenge of keeping up with my mortgage, and the need to focus on physical rehabilitation. I am also preparing to train for a new career or job, as my injuries have made it impossible to return to my previous work. Every day is a struggle, but I am determined to regain my independence and rebuild my life.
