Many of you know and love Amber Hasan. She is a brilliant artist and performer, an activist and community organizer, an author and counselor, and she’s a dedicated Mother and Grandmother. Amber summons the wisdom and the power of the ages every time she graces the stages. She summons that same energy while caring for her community in humble service, with ongoing dedication.

On February 19, Amber was in a car accident on her way to represent Title Track at a community event in Traverse City. Her car was totaled and in light of the seriousness of the accident, we are grateful she is alive, but this has resulted in a huge amount of bodily pain, financial burden, and a bad concussion, which is creating a long break from work, reducing activity and stimulation in order to try to recover, healing the brain and body.

I know there’s a lot going on in our lives and in the world right now. With that in mind, it’s a good time to care for the people that hold our communities together and give relentlessly of themselves. Amber is one of those people and if this happened to any of us, Amber would be the first one encouraging us to rest, figuring out what we need and finding a way to make sure we had it. I know firsthand that when I was suffering, Amber didn’t hesitate to rally support and show up.
