A few days ago, a flash flood burst into Amber’s living space in Middlesex, NJ, sinking all of their worldly possessions. Sentimental keepsakes and everyday necessities were under waist-high water in under an hour. Outside, that same flood swept their car away.

Thankfully, all persons and pets were evacuated safely, but Amber essentially needs to build their life back from square one: Buy new appliances, clothing, extensively repair a damaged car or outright buy a new one, and likely find new housing.

If you know Amber, you know how much of a selfless soul they are. Whether it’s watching your pets while you’re away on vacation, their work at the local Veterinary hospital or volunteering at nearby New Jersey animal sanctuaries, Amber has been giving more than they take for as long as I can recall.

I’ve never had to rebuild my life from scratch, so the goal amount here is a totally arbitrary shot-in-the-dark guess on my part. I would love to see this community come together to help one of their own however they can, especially as flooding is a threat hovering above all of our heads that can strike at any given time. Seeing someone helped in their darkest hour is a reassurance we can all appreciate regardless of our station in life.
