Help Amber Oaks Right Hand Man with Medical Bills
Donation protected
Amber Oaks Berries Farm Worker Guiyecin Ruano has been a year round, full time employee for 15 years. He is the right hand man supporting Tim & Rhonda Boughton's farm in countless ways from picking blueberries, corn and kiwi’s to pruning, planting and equipment maintenance, to washing chestnuts and cracking walnuts. He is a part of the Amber Oaks Family and has touched nearly all of what we buy at the farmers markets and take home to enjoy in our homes each week.
The day after Christmas, Guiyecin and Tim were helping a neighbor repair some fence. While they were working, a piece of barbed wire moved unexpectedly and tragically sliced through Guiyecin’s eye, cutting the cornea in half. While sitting at the emergency room Tim learned that that Guiyecin has no insurance and because he wasn’t working for Tim at the time, Tim’s insurance will not cover the accident.
The initial emergency room visit was over a thousand dollars. A second visit and surgery was required at UC Davis Eye Center in West Sacramento where two specialty eye surgeons were called in to suture the cornea. Though medical bills have yet to be finalized the costs are expected to be astronomical.
In addition to the medical bills and tremendous pain, Guiyecin will be unable to work for up to 6 months and depending on follow up ultrasounds of the eye, possibly longer. We have set an initial target of 6 months of lost wages and a portion of expected medical bills. We will update everyone with further information on his condition and medical costs as information becomes available.
Guiyecin and his family are in great need at this time to support daily living expenses. If you can spare some money to help or know someone that would like to help we would greatly appreciate you donating to this GoFundMe Campaign. If you have any expertise that could help in any way, in kind donations are also appreciated. Tim has set up an account to support donated funds and he and Guiyecin have pledged that any monies remaining after medical costs and lost wages will be donated to Camp Fire Victims.
We sincerely thank you for your consideration.
