Help Amber Kick Cancer's Butt

Amber Daye needs our help.
Some of you know Amber in real life, while many of you may know her online persona “Go Kaleo.” You may even go way back and remember her as one of the cofounders of BADRAP.org. Anyone who knows Amber knows that she has a kind and generous soul, and has spent countless hours supporting people on their own journeys to health and healthier relationships with their bodies, both on her blog (https://gokaleo.com) and on social media, providing value to people free of charge for years.
In August 2019, Amber was diagnosed with breast cancer. She has a family history of breast cancer, so will be undergoing a bilateral mastectomy in mid-September, followed by reconstructive surgery several weeks later. Amber is also going through a divorce and has 100% custody of her two teenage daughters, ages 14 and 16. As a massage therapist and independent contractor, she does not receive disability insurance or unemployment, and her treatment will not permit her to return to her physically demanding work for at least 3 months, if not more.
This fundraising effort is to replace Amber’s lost income during her treatment, as well as to help pay for costs related to her illness, such as ancillary medical supports, transportation costs for Amber and her daughters, legal expenses to set up a will and trust to protect her daughters, as well as other medical support both she and her daughters will need as they all go through this process back to health.
All your donations will go to help Amber and her daughters get through this illness. At this point, we are expecting they will need support for at least 3 months, but if additional therapies such as chemotherapy and/or radiation are required, or if her ability to return to her work is otherwise delayed, we will revisit the goal and update then.
I’m happy to report that Amber has a great core group of friends who are stepping up to help her with all kinds of practical matters related to her illness and recovery, but the financial hit she will take during treatment is huge and this fundraiser will allow Amber to focus on recovery without spending every minute worrying about how she is going to hold things together financially for her kids.

UPDATE as of 9/18/19: Just want to let you all know that Amber's surgery is scheduled for this Friday, 9/20. She'll be going in at about 11:00 so please send her all the positive vibes as she heads into this surgery. It'll be a long day for her but she should be going home on Friday night to rest and recuperate there. Yes, outpatient double mastectomies are a thing!
